The post also challenged whether these economic gains were worth the impact Trump’s policies have had on immigrants, transgender people, and free speech.
“Has the widespread suffering of others paid off for you in the way he promised it would, or are you still waiting?” the repost, originally written by LGBTQ+ activist Matt Bernstein, said.
The post quickly gained attention online.
Grande is known for her outspoken activism and has previously criticized Trump’s policies, especially with regard to immigration and LGBTQ+ rights.
In June 2025, she reposted a call from Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Trump’s impeachment following his decision to bomb Iran without congressional approval.
She posted a meme in June, asking “which crimes get people deported, and which get people elected president,” referring to Trump’s legal issues. Trump was convicted on 34 counts of falsifying business records in 2024, and was accused of sexual misconduct, including rape, by over 26 women.
Some social media users responded to her at the time, calling for Grande, who is an American citizen, to be deported.
Grande’s latest Instagram post comes as Trump continues to promote his economic record. White House deputy press secretary Kush Desai recently highlighted strong GDP growth as evidence of Trump’s successful economic policies.

“America’s economic resurgence under President Trump continues: revised data show even stronger real GDP growth of 3.8 percent in Q2 2025 thanks to the Trump agenda of tax cuts, deregulation, tariffs, and energy abundance,” he said Thursday.
“And this is just the beginning: new data from today also shows core capital goods orders beat expectations, paving the way for robust investment growth in Q3.
“President Trump pledged to Make America Wealthy Again, and with Joe Biden’s inflation crisis tamed, we are now laying the groundwork for a long-term restoration of American Greatness,” Desai added.

Despite the backlash Grande often faces from conservative voices, she has continued to use her platform to voice her opinions.
She has also shared her personal voting choices. In 2024, she made it known that she voted for Kamala Harris.
Later in October, she hosted Saturday Night Live, where she said, “The last time I hosted was in 2016, and we were right on the verge of electing our first female president. So I guess, second time’s a charm.”
Following Trump’s victory, Grande posted an emotional message on Instagram, writing that she was “holding the hand of every person who is feeling the immeasurable heaviness of this outcome today.”
Grande is one of the most followed celebrities on social media, boasting over 370 million Instagram followers alone.
