But the Colorado congresswoman, 38, said it was “a miscommunication on monitoring my young grandson that recently led to him getting out of the house.”

“As the citation states, there was absolutely no injury or physical abuse involved. Our family has already met with CPS to ensure we are continuing to provide a safe environment for my boys and my grandson; I am confident this is a one-time incident that we have addressed as a family,” Boebert told NewsWeek.

Tyler, her oldest of four sons, became a father at 17. He is scheduled to appear in Weld County Court on September 8, according to Denver Westword.

This is not the first time Tyler has faced legal trouble.

In February 2024, police in Rifle, Colorado, arrested him on multiple felony charges related to property thefts and vehicle trespasses.

The charges included four counts of criminal possession of identification documents for multiple victims, one count of conspiracy to commit a felony, and more than 15 misdemeanor and petty offenses, police said at the time.

By October 2024, Tyler had reached a plea agreement in that case. He pleaded guilty to one count of attempted identity theft.

In exchange, he was given a two-year deferred judgment, allowing his felony to be cleared from his record after completing his 24-month probation term.

He also had to complete 80 hours of community service and stay away from controlled substances.

It is not clear whether the latest charge could affect his probation.

In a statement last year, Boebert expressed heartbreak over her son’s struggles.

“I love my son Tyler, who has been through some very difficult, public challenges for a young man and the subject of attention that he didn’t ask for,” she said.

“It breaks my heart to see my child struggling and, in this situation, especially when he has been provided multiple opportunities to get his life on track,” she continued. “I will never give up on him and I will continue to be there for him.”

Tyler has also been tied to other incidents. In 2022, he flipped his father’s SUV into a creek, leaving a passenger injured.

He was ticketed for careless driving, but the case was later reduced to a minor vehicle violation of having a “defective vehicle for headlights” under a plea deal.

In January 2024, he called the police to report that his father, Jayson Boebert, had assaulted him. Police arrested Jayson after the alleged altercation.

Jayson, Boebert’s ex‑husband, has also faced his own legal issues. He was arrested in January 2024 after authorities were alerted to an alleged public altercation involving the former couple.

He was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor assault and criminal mischief and released on bond days later.

Despite Tyler’s record, Boebert has repeatedly said she supports her son.

“As an adult and father, Tyler will take responsibility for his actions and should be held accountable for poor decisions just like any other citizen,” she said last year.

For now, Tyler faces the new misdemeanor charge and awaits his court appearance.
