Women Reveal The MAGA Ideologies They Just Could Not Handle On Dates

Support for U.S. President Donald Trump goes beyond personal politics, with MAGA ideologies often showing up in relationships.
A recent Buzzfeed article revealed responses from American women, shedding light on how the specific MAGA ideologies have impacted their relationships.
BP Daily has highlighted five ideologies that scream MAGA

Highlights

  • Women ended relationships due to their partners’ indifference or dismissiveness toward the Black Lives Matter movement.
  • Dismissive and hostile views on LGBTQ+ issues, like calling trans kids mentally ill, were deal breakers for many women.
  • Contempt for feminism and minimizing women’s rights were common MAGA traits women found unacceptable in partners.

Not caring about Black Lives Matter

The BLM movement, which started in 2013 and gained global support in 2020, advocates for racial justice. The moment reached its peak in 2020, after the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police. For many of Buzzfeed’s responders, partners expressing indifference toward racism or dismissing Black Lives Matter were a deal breaker.
“We are an interracial couple. A month before our wedding in 2020, we were discussing Black Lives Matter, and he said to me, ‘All Lives Matter.’ Uh... no one said they don’t, but we are saying Black people and our lives are just as important,” one respondent shared.
“It was during the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020. I had been seeing this guy pretty regularly,” another person said. They added that one day, the person went on a “rant about how he didn’t think he should care about how Black people are treated because it didn’t directly affect him.”

Being dismissive of the LGBTQ+ community

“I knew the minute he told me he thinks being trans is a mental illness,” one person said. The Trump administration has had a conservative stance on the LGBTQ+ community, with Trump saying he will remove protections for transgender students “on day one” of his presidency.
The U.S. Air Force announced last year it would not allow transgender service members with 15 to 18 years of service to retire early. Instead, they will be separated without retirement benefits.
Since taking office in January, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ended diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs at the Pentagon. He has also canceled observances such as Black History Month and Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
For another respondent, their date had a rather dark comment on trans kids. “He said all trans kids should be shipped to Epstein Island,” they revealed.

Contemptuous towards feminism

It’s no secret that Trump’s policies are not in line with women’s autonomy. Be it anti-abortion or pro-life, blocking equal pay initiatives, or causing military exclusions, to name a few.
Well, Trump supporters consistently aligned with minimizing feminism. “He referred to feminism as a trend. That was about all I needed to know,” said one user, describing how they found out their partner was a MAGA supporter. Another respondent’s date “kept intentionally mispronouncing Kamala [Harris’ name].”

Idolizing Trump

When idolizing a politician takes over political ideology, it can be a worrisome trait. MAGA supporters took it to another level, as revealed by some women. “I walked into his [writer’s date’s] closet to see a literal shrine to Trump: Trump hoodies all hung up, multiple MAGA hats, two flags, and a bunch of other weird, assorted MAGA merch,” said one person.
Another mentioned that their date had a “Trump figurine” in their childhood home.

Anti-Vaccine

Members of the Trump administration have repeatedly called COVID-19 “a hoax” or a “flu,” opposed taking vaccines, and even suggested remedies like injecting disinfectant.
These statements have been deemed harmful by many public health officials. One doctor, Paul Offit, said about a 2025 conference where Trump called to end a popular childhood vaccine, “That was the most dangerously irresponsible press conference in the realm of public health in American history.”
Many of the dates echoed these statements. “My boyfriend was convinced that there was something bad in the vaccine, and he set up a plan to get a fake vaccination card in case he needed it,” said one person, who added that they themselves were right-leaning.
