Jeffrey Epstein’s death has been largely a mystery. Now, in a graphicrelease, the Department of Justice has produced photographs of Epstein as EMTs performed CPR after he was found unresponsive in his jail cell.

The FBI claimed last year that the convicted sex offender, who is the subject of millions of pages of investigation files, died by suicide

Highlights
  • The DOJ released disturbing images of Jeffrey Epstein receiving CPR after being found unresponsive in his jail cell in 2019.
  • Epstein’s autopsy revealed a fractured thyroid cartilage, fueling conspiracy theories about potential strangulation.
  • Two guards tasked to monitor him admitted they were asleep during their shift.
  • Among the 3 million pages released were nude photos and documents implicating high-profile figures linked to Epstein’s network.

However, conspiracy theories and his family’s independent autopsy suggested Epstein suffered a neck fracture, which usually occurs during strangulation murders.

The latest trove of files released includes 3 million pages comprising emails, 180,000 images, and 2,000 videos. Within the information dump were pictures of Epstein’s body and his jail cell following his death in 2019.

The two documents consisted of a death investigation by the FBI’s New York Field Office and a report from the Lieutenant’s Office of the Metropolitan Correctional Center.

One of the reports, EFTA00134598, shows Epstein in an orange prison shirt, ripped open with medical equipment attached to his body, as an EMT attempts to perform CPR.

Another shows Epstein’s face, with deep red cuts to his neck. A third consists of a makeshift noose made out of orange clothing he allegedly used to hang himself.

A corresponding image shows Epstein’s cell following his death. Orange bed sheets and clothing were thrown everywhere, and the image also shows the piece of fabric Epstein used to hang himself dangling from his bed frame.

An X-ray revealed that Epstein’s thyroid cartilage was fractured. The day before his death, he had appeared in court, after which his cellmate was removed. Epstein was placed on suicide watch but was later taken off of close monitoring.

Epstein was awaiting federal charges related to the sex trafficking of minors and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking. On the evening before his death, he made a 20-minute phone call, though the recipient has not been publicly identified.

He was found unresponsive in his cell early the next morning and transported by ambulance to New York Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:36 a.m.

Authorities believe Epstein died sometime between 10:40 p.m. on August 9, 2019, when he was locked in his cell, and 6:30 a.m. on August 10, when he was discovered.

There has been much mystery related to Epstein’s death, with many people believing he was murdered because he kept a list of powerful figures involved in his crimes.

Last year, the FBI and DOJ released a memo, along with 11 hours of jail footage from the night he died, confirming Epstein’s death as a suicide, but it only fueled the conspiracy fires more—due to a missing minute. Attorney General Pam Bondi said it was a routine reset of the camera.

The FBI-DOJ declared Epstein’s death a suicide but many have claimed it involved foul play

Wired worked with forensic experts, who analyzed the footage and claimed it had been “modified” and consisted of two separate files stitched together. The footage released was also blurry and from a camera further away from Epstein’s cell, despite there being several other cameras.

Epstein also allegedly tried to commit suicide weeks before his actual death, but this footage was destroyed by accident as well.

The recently released Epstein files have also sparked controversy due to apparent redaction errors. Among the released documents—some of which were redacted to protect victims’ identities—was a set of nude photos that appeared to have been included accidentally, The New York Times reported.

Dozens of unredacted nude images showing young women, or possibly even minors, were published by the DOJ.

Beyond the images, the documents reference numerous high-profile politicians, celebrities, intellectuals, and world leaders.

The latest released files include names such as Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Donald Trump, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Sarah Ferguson, Richard Branson, Lord Peter Mandelson, Steve Bannon, Narendra Modi, and more.

Another email exchange accuses former U.S. Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush of raping a boy. The boy told an FBI agent on August 27, 2019, that he was on a yacht with Epstein in 2000, where he was raped by Epstein and Clinton.

An individual in the files claimed they had witnessed cannibalism aboard Epstein’s yacht

The victim, whose identity has been redacted, added that he saw African American males having sexual intercourse with blonde females, all of whom were bleeding. He also said he was the victim of a ritualistic sacrifice in which his feet were cut with a scimitar, but left no scarring.

He added that babies were dismembered on the yacht, their intestines removed, and the feces from those intestines were consumed by individuals whose identities have not been mentioned.

Following the cannibalism claim, a 2009 video of a Mexican model, Gabriela Rico Jiménez, has resurfaced online. The 21-year-old model can be seen in the video in disheveled clothing after leaving a private elite party at the hotel, screaming, “They ate humans. They smell like human flesh.”

Police had alleged Jiménez was mentally ill. She was never seen again.
