Kim Petras Says She’ll Send Zohran Mamdani Her Unreleased Album If He Does One Thing For New York
Pop star Kim Petras has offered to send New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani her new album before the release date if he moves forward with animal rights proposals.
“Zohran Mamdani I am willing to privately send you my new album if we can get the horse carriages banned from Central Park,” she wrote on social media Monday.
Petras made the offer on X after Mamdani revealed to Interview that he listened to her music when he wanted to feel hyped.

After being asked if he has a specific playlist that helps him feel hyped, Mamdani told the outlet, “Oh, man. I have a few songs. My wife prefers calmer music in the morning.
“I, for some reason, want to listen to Kim Petras or Lil Wayne or Madonna.”
He went on to praise the song ‘I Like Ur Look’ and Petras shared a snippet of the conversation when she made her offer.
She followed up in the comment section, sharing a screenshot of a YouTube video titled, “Mandani makes transition announcement.”

Petras, who is openly transgender, wrote, “The signs were always there…”
Animal rights activists have been calling for a ban on Central Park’s horse carriages for decades, citing concerns over animal welfare, including safety risks, overwork, exposure to extreme heat, and traffic-related accidents.
It was an issue that all the New York mayoral candidates agreed on.
Mamdani, who has not publicly responded to Petras’ offer, said he plans to look at the “significant issue” of the horse-drawn carriages.
In October, he said he wanted to assess the health of the horses and personally visit the stables before moving forward with a proposal.

PETA welcomed Petras’ stance on the matter, commenting on her post, “I Like Ur Look when you’re helping horses. Thank you for seizing the opportunity to help get horses off the crowded streets of NYC.”
In a statement to Rolling Stone, PETA Director Ashley Byrne added, “Kim’s wishes are echoed by the majority of New Yorkers, including Zohran’s supporters.
“We hope his administration ushers in a new era for New York City, in which the cruel spectacle of horses collapsing from illness and exhaustion, having bloody collisions with cars, and making dangerous escapes through Central Park becomes a distant, mortifying, and embarrassing memory.”
Mamdani, who became the youngest person to be elected the city’s mayor since 1892 and its first Muslim mayor, will be inaugurated on New Year’s Day.

He will be sworn in just moments before midnight at an abandoned subway stop below City Hall Park in a private ceremony on December 31, his transition team announced.
“When Old City Hall Station first opened in 1904—one of New York’s 28 original subway stations—it was a physical monument to a city that dared to be both beautiful and build great things that would transform working peoples’ lives,” Mamdani said.
“That ambition need not be a memory confined only to our past, nor must it be isolated only to the tunnels beneath City Hall: it will be the purpose of the administration fortunate enough to serve New Yorkers from the building above.

“When I take my oath from the station at the dawn of the New Year, I will do so humbled by the opportunity to lead millions of New Yorkers into a new era of opportunity, and honored to carry forward our city’s legacy of greatness.”
New York Attorney General Letitia James will swear in Mamdani during the ceremony, and Senator Bernie Sanders will publicly swear him in at a public ceremony on Thursday.
The inauguration will take place at 1 p.m. at New York City Hall and has been billed by Mamdani as the “first ever inauguration block party.”
