The mother of a 37-year-old woman who was shot and killed by an ICE agent on Wednesday has described her as an “extremely compassionate” person.
Renee Nicole Good, a U.S. citizen, was inside her vehicle on a street in south Minneapolis when she was confronted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and shot dead.
Homeland Security has claimed that Good was attempting to ram her car into a federal agent and said he shot her in self-defense to protect himself and other agents.

That claim has been strongly rejected by witnesses at the scene and local lawmakers, who say that Good was not a threat to federal officers.
Good’s mother, Donna Ganger, has now told the Minnesota Star Tribune that the circumstances in which her daughter was killed were “so stupid.”
“She was probably terrified,” Ganger said, adding that Good was “not part of anything like that at all,” referring to anti-ICE protesters.
“Renee was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known,” she said. “She was extremely compassionate. She’s taken care of people all her life.
“She was loving, forgiving and affectionate. She was an amazing human being.”

It is understood that Good was living in Minneapolis with her partner and six-year-old son, whose father, Timmy Ray Macklin Jr., died just two years ago, aged 36.
Macklin Jr.’s father, Timmy Ray Macklin Sr., told the Star Tribune he was shocked to learn that Good had been killed.
“There’s nobody else in his life,” Macklin said. “I’ll drive. I’ll fly. To come and get my grandchild.”
Good’s death has sparked protests across the city, with Mayor Jacob Frey demanding that ICE agents “get the f**k out of Minneapolis.”
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has also vowed to ensure that a full investigation into the incident takes place.
“I’ve seen the video. Don’t believe this propaganda machine,” he said in a statement, referring to the official Homeland Security statement on the incident.

“The state will ensure there is a full, fair, and expeditious investigation to ensure accountability and justice.”
In a statement on Truth Social, President Donald Trump commented on the incident and repeated allegations made by Homeland Security regarding Good.
“The woman screaming was, obviously, a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self-defense,” Trump wrote.
Sharing a snippet of the footage, some of which lasts over four minutes, he added, “Based on the attached clip, it is hard to believe he is alive, but is now recovering in the hospital.”
Trump also claimed that such incidents were happening because of the “radical left.”
