California Governor Gavin Newsom has trolled Donald Trump’s extravagant New Year’s Eve bash as millions of Americans are set to lose health insurance coverage.
The president hosted a lavish party at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida to bring in the new year with a number of influential guests.
While many were celebrating, millions of Americans entered 2026 worried about securing health-care coverage, as Obamacare subsidies expired at midnight on December 31.

The subsidies, expanded during the COVID-19 pandemic and later extended by Congress, had lowered monthly premiums and helped record numbers of people afford insurance.
Their expiration means a dramatic rise in costs for many enrollees and the potential loss of coverage altogether, with increased premiums expected to push some off their plans entirely.
It was a point mentioned by Newsom as he shared a video of attendees enjoying a caviar station at Trump’s party, which also featured ice sculptures.
“Don’t worry, 17 million Americans begin to get kicked off their health care this year,” Newsom wrote.

In a separate post, he shared a tweet about subsidies expiring and said, “Happy new year from Donald Trump and Mike Johnson.”
The subsidies have been the subject of intense debate between Republicans and Democrats, with Democrats refusing to support funding for the government unless the enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies were extended.
That disagreement contributed to the longest-ever federal government shutdown, which lasted 43 days and ended on November 12 when a group of Democrats broke with party leadership to help pass a stopgap funding bill.
The measure did not include an extension of the subsidies, which was a key reason the majority of Democrats initially opposed reopening the government.

That stopgap is currently funding the government until January 30, with concerns that the ongoing disagreement could once again push the government toward a shutdown if no deal is reached.
In a New Year’s message, Newsom slammed Trump for opposing a subsidy extension, among a host of other issues.
A message from his press office account, which has been mocking Trump by mimicking his niche social media style, read, “SPEAKING OF LOSERS, I HOPE DONALD TRUMP HAS THE 2026 “HE DESERVES” AFTER UNLEASHING CHAOS ON THE PEOPLE OF THIS GREAT COUNTRY THIS YEAR.
Millions of Americans could lose their health insurance coverage in 2026
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE, ESPECIALLY THE DEEPLY DISTURBED LOSERS SUFFERING FROM EXTREME NEWSOM DERANGEMENT SYNDROME (“NDS”). DOCTORS SAY IT’S CURABLE, VERY EASY TREATMENT, BUT THEY REFUSE IT BECAUSE THEY LIKE BEING “MISERABLE.” OH WELL! SPEAKING OF LOSERS, I HOPE DONALD TRUMP…

“WE WILL NEVER FORGIVE HIM FOR MARCHING SOLDIERS INTO OUR BEAUTIFUL CITIES, RAISING TAXES SO HE CAN GIVE YOUR MONEY TO HIS RICH FRIENDS, HIS STUPID TARIFFS, RIPPING BABIES AWAY FROM THEIR MOTHERS, THROWING GRANDMAS OFF THEIR HEALTHCARE, PROMISING AID FOR THE PEOPLE OF LOS ANGELES TO REBUILD HOMES AND THEN VANISHING.
“HE IS A TOTAL FRAUD, TOTAL COWARD, AND TOTAL LOSER! THERE IS A VERY SPECIAL PLACE WAITING FOR HIM (EVERYONE KNOWS WHERE) AND IT’S NOT MAR-A-LAGO!”
Speaking to reporters outside his bash, Trump called for “peace on earth,” according to The New York Post.

The president was responding to a question about what his resolution was when he made the comment.
When he entered the ballroom, Trump then told attendees that the country was “doing great”, adding “We’re back. We’re strong.”
The party was attended by prominent figures such as Benjamin Netanyahu, Hussain Sajwani, Rudy Giuliani and several of those from the Trump administration.
