As grocery prices continue to rise across the United States, several supporters of President Donald Trump have taken to social media to express frustration that the lower prices they were promised have yet to appear.
Their complaints have gone viral, not because people agree with them, but because many have pointed out the irony.

In recent weeks, a compilation of posts from MAGA voters has spread on Reddit, showing supporters of Trump pleading for relief from inflation and higher grocery costs.

“I support everything Trump is doing on the world stage, but grocery prices are not coming down. They are going up. I need the administration to acknowledge and fix this,” one such post read.
Another said, “I don’t care about Ukraine or the Middle East. We Americans need help here at HOME!! We are drowning in escalating inflation! My health insurance is doubling for 2026, utilities skyrocketing, not to mention food. We voted for Trump to get this fixed!! HELP YOUR PEOPLE 1ST.”
Others echoed similar concerns, asking Trump and his allies, including Vice President JD Vance, to “help every day working Americans.”
One user appealed directly to Trump, writing: “President Trump, grocery prices are killing us out here. We’ve supported you this whole time we need relief at the grocery store.”

The accounts that have since gone viral are not the only Trump supporters to comment on the price increases.
One X user, Cynthia, wrote in June: “I’d gladly pay higher food prices to make our country safer and to give those jobs back to Americans.”
However, three months after her initial post, she said: “I don’t know about you but my Grocery bills still sky-high. I’m not at all happy about it.”
Outside of MAGA circles, the pleas are being met with little sympathy.

On Reddit’s r/LeopardsAteMyFace community, a forum that highlights people suffering the consequences of their own political choices, the reactions were harsh.
One user quoted a post that read, “I am supportive of everything Trump is doing on the world stage,” and responded to it: “And this is why life in America won’t get any better. Dumb f***s like this guy supports any and everything trump does unless it affects them. And even then, they only mildly complain while still sucking trumps d**k.”

Another added: “These people are so f***ing clueless. The things he is doing on the world stage is the exact cause of inflation, grocery costs and insurance rates going up. Meanwhile he is cutting spending in our country and dedicating all those funds to Israel and Argentina to further enrich him and his billionaire friends. Oh, and his private gestapo, also known as ICE.”
Many users pointed out that Trump’s policies, including tariffs on imports and mass deportations, have contributed to higher production costs.
Others mocked the voters’ belief that Trump or his officials would read the posts. “The real sad part here is that these people probably think that someone ‘up there’ is actually listening.”

Another likened the user’s posts to suffering from Stockholm Syndrome, writing: “The consistent pattern of ‘I LOVE YOU, but please stop hurting me.’ Jesus, the Stockholm Syndrome.”
Inflation is an issue Trump inherited from the Biden administration, but his denial of its current reality has left citizens to suffer.
A recent CNNpoll revealed that about 6 in 10 people feel Trump’s policies have worsened U.S. economic conditions.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, grocery costs have risen 1.4% since Trump took office, and inflation has risen to the highest annual rate since January.

The rising inflation was a key failure of the Biden administration, adding to its unpopularity.
While Biden said inflation was “the bane of our existence,” he downplayed it by attributing it to “mostly in food, and in gasoline.”
Affordability was one of the biggest issues for Americans in the presidential election, and Trump had also campaigned on the promise to reduce grocery prices.

Despite Consumer Price Index reports indicating a 0.6% increase in average grocery prices from July to August, Trump has touted that grocery prices have decreased.
“We’ve gotten prices way down for groceries,” he said on October 10, a statement he had also made to world leaders at the United Nations on September 23.
