Conservative commentator Tomi Lahren sparked a wave of online mockery this week after tweeting a warning to Democrats not to move to what she called the country’s “great red cities.”

Lahren, who gained fame for her short video segments called “Final Thoughts,” where she criticized liberal policies, posted the tweet after several Democratic victories this week.

Highlights
  • Tomi Lahren warned Democrats not to move to the 'great red cities,' sparking widespread online mockery and millions of views on social media.
  • Recent elections saw Democrats flip multiple races nationwide, including NYC mayor and Virginia’s first female governor victories.
  • Many social media users highlighted red states’ struggles with high poverty, teen pregnancy, violent crime, and poor infrastructure.

On November 5, Democrats flipped multiple races across the country.

Zohran Mamdani won New York City’s mayoral race, Abigail Spanberger became Virginia’s first female governor, and Mikie Sherrill was elected governor of New Jersey.

California voters also approved Proposition 50, which redraws congressional districts in ways favorable to Democrats, after the GOP in Texas redrew maps to create five Republican-leaning seats ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

After yall finish totally screwing up your blue cities and states you’ll decide to flee to our great red cities and states with your ‘coexist’ and ‘no human is illegal’ yard signs,” Lahren wrote on X.

“Please don’t come. You made your bed. Stay there.

The post quickly went viral, racking up millions of views and thousands of comments, with most users poking fun at “great red cities.”

Social media users asked for examples of these cities, and people shared their personal experiences living in them.

One X user wrote, “Sis, your ‘great red states’ lead in poverty, teen pregnancy, and maternal mortality. But go off about yard signs while your infrastructure crumbles and hospitals close.”

“Red states are getting subsidized by the blue ones cause they’re failing. No one wants to live there,” another said in Lahren’s replies.

A third wrote: “I’ve lived in your red states. No one dreams of moving to them. Most are trying to escape.”

Tennessee is among the states with the highest violent‑crime rates in the U.S., Mississippi has the highest teen birth rate and the highest maternal‑mortality rate, and Louisiana has one of the highest poverty rates in the nation.

A Third Way report found red states of Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama to have been America’s murder capitals for 15 of the last 23 years, with murder in red states being 33% higher than in blue states between 2021-2022.

Time magazine analyzed five years of state-by-state federal fund inflows and outflows and found that, from 2018 to 2022, blue states provided more federal funding to red states than they received in return.

Lahren’s latest comments are not the first time she has hit the headlines.

In October, she faced widespread ridicule for not knowing Puerto Ricans are Americans during a debate about Bad Bunny performing at the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show.

MAGA supporters were outraged by the announcement of the Latin artist’s performance, especially because his songs are not in English.

Bad Bunny has been a vocal critic of President Donald Trump and his administration.

Lahren asked her guest on the show, Krystal Ball, if she believed that Bad Bunny was a good choice for the performance.

“Seems like a great American artist,” Ball said.

“He’s not an American artist, but—” Lahren responded.

Lahren had come under scrutiny for not knowing that Puerto Ricans are American citizens

“He’s Puerto Rican,” Ball told Lahren. “That’s part of America, dear.”

Puerto Ricans are American citizens, and Puerto Rico stands as a territory or commonwealth of the U.S.

However, Puerto Ricans living on the island cannot vote in U.S. presidential elections, but those who reside in the mainland U.S. can.

This week, Democrats also took two statewide seats on Georgia’s Public Service Commission, marking their first wins in nonfederal statewide offices there since 2006.

In Pennsylvania, Democrats retained three state Supreme Court judgeships despite millions of dollars spent by conservative billionaire Jeff Yass to influence the judiciary.

The party also claimed top local offices in Bucks, Erie, Lehigh, and Northampton counties.

At the state legislative level in Mississippi, Democrats broke the GOP supermajority in the state Senate by flipping two seats.

Virginia Democrats expanded their majority in the House of Delegates, while New Jersey Democrats achieved a supermajority in the General Assembly.

Democrats also flipped city council seats and mayoral positions on a local level in Georgetown, Orlando, Syracuse, and Charlotte.

Those victories came as Trump’s disapproval ratings skyrocketed to the highest level since he began his second term, with 63% of Americans being dissatisfied with his performance.

I'm curious now; can anyone name a single 'great red city'? Even here in Florida, which is deep MAGA swamp, the cities are blue. Orlando is blue. Miami is blue. Tampa is at least solidly purple. The simple fact is, cities lean liberal. Always have.
