U.S. President Donald Trump was mocked across social media over a video of him looking out the window in the White House last Friday.

The construction of the ballroom started during the longest federal government shutdown. Around the same time, the Trump administration announced that families would not receive SNAP benefits as scheduled, and workers were furloughed.
Last Friday, Trump was meeting with oil industry executives, including leaders from Chevron and Exxon, in an effort to secure billions in new investment in Venezuela’s oil sector.

“In fact, if you look, come to think of it… Well, I gotta look at this myself,” Trump was saying, as he abruptly stood up during the meeting, walking to the window. “What a view. This is the door to the ballroom.”
“This picture is the perfect embodiment of the second Trump presidency. Ignoring real business in the room while looking out the window at nothing,” said one user on X.
The edits aimed at recent controversies, including the Trump administration’s lack of transparency in relation to files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, especially given the president’s friendship with him, and the fact that Trump’s name appears in the files.
The window background also happened to make the perfect green screen for social media users to go wild with.

The White House also joined in on the trend, sharing a post of Trump looking out towards a map of Greenland. Trump has been fixated on owning the autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark.
He has previously said he plans to take control of the territory “the easy way” or “the hard way,” despite both Greenland and Denmark being against it.
