A former Alabama television sports reporter and her husband were found dead inside their Hoover home, while their 3-year-old son remained unharmed.
Police confirmed that the case appears to involve a murder-suicide, though the investigation continues.
Authorities responded to a call at 9:03 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16.

The police were contacted by a family member, who found the couple unresponsive. Hoover Fire-Medics responded to the call, and upon reaching the residence, pronounced a male and a female deceased from gunshot wounds.
Police added that a 3-year-old child was also found at the home. The child was not injured and is safe. Since the deaths were thought to be a murder-suicide, police also added that there is no threat to the public.
While the police did not reveal any identities, WBRC identified one of the victims as Christina Chambers, a former sports reporter for the station. Chambers worked at WBRC from 2015 until 2021 and later returned as a freelance contributor during the 2025 football season.

In a public statement, WBRCnews anchor Jeh Jeh Pruitt said, “She was one of the sweetest, most loving people that I know. She was relentless with running, loving her son, and loving life.
“I am glad I got a chance to hug and tell her I love her a week ago at the Super 7. I am so sorry for her family, the Chambers and Thompson Families, and her WBRC Family.”
Prior to joining WBRC, Chambers worked as a reporter/anchor at WAKA in Montgomery, WLTZNBC38 in Columbus, and at the sports network Comcast Sports Southeast in Atlanta.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of our former employee, Christina Chambers. Christina worked for Alabaster City Schools as the director of our Broadcasting Academy,” Alabaster City Schools said in a statement.

“In this role, she led THS TV, sharing her extensive television experience with our students. Christina also used her talents on the sidelines, with live reporting for the Warrior Nation Network on many Friday nights. Our thoughts and prayers are with Christina’s family and all of those impacted by this tragic loss.”
Dr. Wayne Vickers, Superintendent for Alabaster City Schools, further said, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Christina Chambers. From 2021 to early 2025, Christina served as a broadcast journalism teacher in our Broadcast Academy at Thompson High School, where she quickly formed meaningful connections with her students. Her dedication to them and to her profession was evident in everything she did.”

She was a cherished colleague whose warmth and loving personality touched everyone she worked with. Christina was a source of joy and inspiration to our team and company—she will be greatly missed,” Sophie Martin, Director Corporate Communications and Community Relations at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, said in a statement.
Chambers was a four-year Division 1A scholarship athlete at UAB, where she also received a B.A. in journalism.
While police have ruled it a murder-suicide, they have not disclosed a possible motive or the circumstances that may have preceded the incident.
