In December, the White House added two permanent gold signs marking the entrances to the Oval Office and the West Wing.

The signage received a ton of flak and jokes online, but the Trump administration seems to be undeterred, since they just added another one.

As President Donald Trump’s controversial alterations to the White House continue, the new move has got netizens talking.

Highlights
  • The White House added a new gold cursive sign for the Rose Garden, matching earlier signs for the Oval Office and West Wing entrances.
  • Trump’s White House alterations include demolishing parts of the East Wing and replacing Jackie Kennedy’s Rose Garden with a limestone patio.
  • Social media ridiculed the gold signs, comparing them to discount store décor and joking about dementia-related labeling.

A cursive, gold-plated sign saying “The Rose Garden” appeared on the White House colonnade Tuesday, photos and reports show. It follows the same script as that of the previous two signs.

Since taking office last year, Trump has made several changes to the White House, including demolishing the East Wing to build his massive ballroom.

One of the earliest alterations includes destroying Jackie Kennedy’s Rose Garden to match this personal taste.

The garden was paved to add a white limestone patio, the central grassy area was replaced with tiles, and garden furniture was added.

If there’s one thing Trump has become infamously known for adding to the executive mansion, it’s gold. Gold has been added to the Oval Office, cabinet rooms, and the new Presidential Walk of Fame

In the Oval Office, gold trophies line the mantelpiece with ornaments and gilded frames. Other furnishings and decor on the walls have also been upgraded to match Trump’s new golden-era theme, said to be inspired by his Mar-a-Lago estate.

The changes had many social media users comparing it to moldings sold at Home Depot

Staying within the theme, one X user compared the latest signage to “the clearance section at @marshalls.”

“It looks like a one star Chinese restaurant in Vienna, Virginia,” said politician Christopher Hale.

Journalist Sam Stein said, “You know it’s a classy joint when you have cursive signage on every historical spot, telling you where you are.”

Previously, the White House added signs marking the Oval Office and the West Wing

One X user joked, “Oh s**t I swear I went to a cousins graduation dinner at this place. It was in Howard Beach and it was soooo classy. Bacon wrapped shrimp for days!!!”

Another commented, “A tacky sign announcing a rose garden where there are no roses, how Trumpian.”

A third edited the image of the sign to say, “The Concrete Patio,” captioning it, “fixed it.”

“Trumps dementia is so bad they have to label everything now so he knows where he is,” a user. A second commented, “I did a rotation at a dementia ward in pharmacy school. EVERYTHING was labeled.”

The dementia comment echoes earlier remarks about the new look of the White House, as speculation about Trump’s health reaches an all-time high.

Trump’s recent behavior, such as dozing off in meetings, hurling insults at reporters, and reports of him getting an MRI, have fueled concerns after Trump started showing swollen ankles and bruised hands.

Last year, Trump’s niece told The Daily Beast Podcast that the president was showing signs of dementia similar to his father.

One user shared an edited image of the front of the White House, with a white label on the building reading “The White House,” captioned, “Next up for that added bit class.”

Social media users responded with criticism, dementia concerns, and jokes

Another shared an image of the inside of the White House featuring the words, “Live. Laugh. Love” in the now familiar font.

“Donald Trump is decorating the White House like a pre-teen decorates their house in The Sims. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it,” an X user described it.

Another called it, “Me after I bought a label maker and started labeling everything in the house.”

The signage was placed in front of the ornately decorated Presidential Walk of Fame.

The Presidential Walk of Fame, which now has plaques written by Trump, features numerous gold adornments along with portraits of every U.S. president, except for Joe Biden, who has been replaced by an image of an autopen.
