Whoopi Goldberg shocked her co-hosts and audience during Tuesday’s episode of The View when she launched into a fiery rant aimed at former U.S. President Barack Obama.
Her strong words came after Obama’s recent comments at a private fundraiser, where he urged Democrats to “stop whining,” “ditch navel-gazing,” and “toughen up” after their 2024 election loss.
- Whoopi Goldberg criticized Barack Obama’s call for Democrats to ‘stop whining’ and ‘toughen up’ after the 2024 loss.
- She also rejected Mark Cuban’s claim that Democrats only focus on bashing Trump instead of real policy solutions.
- She emphasized the role played by the public in protesting to challenge Trump’s immigration policies.

“It’s going to require a little bit less navel-gazing and a little less whining and being in fetal positions,” Obama said, according to The New York Times.
“And it’s going to require Democrats to just toughen up,” he added.
Goldberg also criticized billionaire Mark Cuban, who has blasted Democratic messaging. Cuban recently claimed the Democrats were too focused on criticizing Donald Trump rather than offering real policy solutions.
“We pick the wrong pressure points,” Cuban said. “It’s just, ‘Trump sucks.’ That’s the underlying thought of everything the Democrats do. Trump says, ‘The sky is blue,’ ‘Trump sucks.’”
“That’s not the way to win,” he added. “It’s just not.”
Goldberg did not take those remarks lightly.
“Let me remind everybody who was out on the front lines marching when we had the giant marches that went on. It was the people. The people went out,” she said.
“They were not ‘navel-gazing,’” she continued. “It was older people who were saying, ‘Why are you touching my social security?’ It was not people ‘whining.’ It was about people saying, ‘Why are you taking these rights from my child when my child was born here?’”

Goldberg pushed back, saying Obama and Cuban’s criticism wasn’t about Democrats being inactive. Instead, she said, “It’s about y’all—because their messaging was always the same.”
“Democrats have been angry at what this man tried to do the last time. They’ve been angry this time. So, I, with much due respect to you both, I believe you are pointing the finger at the wrong person when you say Democrats,” Goldberg said.
Further, co-host Sara Haines asked Goldberg if she was differentiating between voters and elected officials. Goldberg made her point clear: “Yes, I am.”
“When you say Democrats, he’s talking to us, saying our messaging is bad. And I’m saying, no, our messaging has not been bad because people have been out.”

Hundreds of people have been protesting in Los Angeles and other major American cities against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Trump responded by deploying 2,000 National Guard troops to L.A. to manage the protests. The troops were recalled yesterday.
On this topic, co-host Ana Navarro offered a more balanced opinion.

She noted that public protests and pushback on Trump’s immigration policies had made a real difference.
“Right now, Trump’s handling on immigration has gone dramatically down,” she said. “Because the American people have taken it upon themselves to amplify the truth, to show up and protest these horrible, inhumane raids… to tell the truth about what their relatives are going through.”
“We have heard the story of U.S. citizen children with cancer who are not getting treatment because they’ve had to leave with their deported parents. Because the American people are doing their part—amplifying, showing up at protest, donating, organizing, and being vigilant.”
“So, some of us say that Donald Trump sucks. He does suck. And it feels good to say it,” she added.
As someone who has been participating in the protest, she said voters are taking action now.
HAPPENING NOW: LAPD just issued a citywide tactical alert. Tens of thousands are flooding LA streets in protest of ICE raids.

“I do think there are things that are working. I agree with Obama, people can’t wait for a messiah. And people aren’t waiting for a messiah. People are taking it on their own,” she said.
Goldberg also called out individuals who suggested Texas residents deserved what they got in the devastating floods, since many in the state supported Trump.
“Let’s be really clear. You can’t blame anybody for these floods. It’s nobody’s fault. I didn’t do it. You didn’t do it. Has nothing to do with Washington. This was a natural disaster.
“These floods are no joke. This is not light humor. This is not how we do in America. We show up for whoever is in trouble. We don’t say, ‘Who did you vote for?’ We show up,” Goldberg said.
