Taylor Swift fans have called on the pop icon to sue the Trump administration after the White House used The Fate of Ophelia in a TikTok post.
Swifties were left fuming when the official White House account used a song from Swift’s new album The Life of a Showgirl to praise President Donald Trump.
The post, shared earlier this week, was captioned “OUR VIBES” alongside the American flag emoji.

As ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ track blasted in the background, the video matched its lyrics to snapshots from Trump’s presidency, and it held a theme of war.
During the chorus, “Keep it one hundred on the land, the sea, the sky,” images flashed throughout the post of troops carrying guns, a Navy carrier, and an Air Force fighter jet.
It went on to share images of Trump and First Lady Melania, as well as Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha, describing them as “your team” and “your vibes.”
Then, when it hit the part of the song that says “don’t care where the hell you’ve been, cause now you’re mine,” an image of Trump’s mugshot popped up on screen before it pivoted to him kissing the American flag.

The post then ended on an image of Trump dishing out fries in a McDonald’s uniform—a stop he made on the campaign trail last year—and written over the image were changed lyrics.
Instead of “the fate of Ophelia,” the administration posted “the fate of America.”
The comment section of the post was flooded with outraged Swifties who urged the megastar to sue over the use of her music.
“I would absolutely LOVE if Tay found a way to sue them for this,” one fan wrote.
Another added, “Oh hell no they didn’t do this to Taylor! As a swiftie I am sooo mad and hope she goes for them.”

“I thought you hate Taylor? Now release the files,” a third posted.
In a statement to The Wrap, the White House claimed it had made the video to trick “fake news brands.”
“We made this video because we knew fake news media brands like The Wrap would breathlessly amplify them. Congrats, you got played,” a spokesperson said.
Swift endorsed Democratic presidential contender Kamala Harris in the 2024 election after a fake AI image of her endorsing Trump was posted on his website.
“I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,” Swift said at the time.

She also signed off her post as “Childless Cat Lady”—a reference to comments JD Vance had made about prominent Democrats in 2021.
In response to her endorsing Harris, Trump said he was “never a fan” and claimed her music would suffer for her political views.
“I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,” he wrote on Truth Social in September.
Swift’s most recent album broke records, including the biggest first-week sales in U.S. history for a single album and the most vinyl sales in a week.

In a bizarre post in May, Trump also claimed that Swift was no longer hot.
“Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?’” Trump posted.
Then in August, he reiterated his hate for Swift after praising actress Sydney Sweeney upon learning that she was a Republican.
“Just look at Woke singer Taylor Swift… I can’t stand her (HATE!). She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became, NO LONGER HOT,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
